Brela

Brela - the pearl of the Makarska Riviera - awaits you at the western entrance. A well-known tourist destination, with almost seven kilometres of natural pebble beaches, three of which are holders of the prestigious international Blue Flag award.

A recognizable symbol of the settlement is the Brela Stone, which is also called Šakan, and got its name from the Mediterranean fur seal that once lived here. Due to its attractiveness, Brela, often called Donja Brela, has always been an extremely sought-after micro location that bears the mark of Dalmatian tourist prestige, which is confirmed by high-category hotels. In search of a break from the everyday hustle and bustle, the village of Gornja Brela (ancient Berulia) is gaining more and more importance and is becoming an ideal place to build a house or a building for rent.

Brela today has 1,628 inhabitants in the upper and lower settlements (data from 2021) and is only 15 km from Makarska.
