Drvenik is a coastal town in the south of the Makarska Riviera, formed in two unique bays: Gornja and Donja Vala. The settlement was created after the earthquake in the 60s, when the inhabitants left the hamlets below Biokovo (Staro selo). This also meant the beginning of the development of tourism in Drvenik, today a fundamental economic branch. Numerous guesthouses and small family hotels confirm the successful business and recognized identity of Drvenik as a tourist destination. At the same time, Staro selo is being renovated, buildings are being reconstructed into comfortable holiday homes, which are in high demand on the market. Drvenik is characterized by untouched nature, landscaped olive groves, a long line of pebble beaches and the charm of a small town with 421 inhabitants.
Drvenik was mentioned already in the 13th century, its name comes from the word tree, so it is no coincidence that even today its coves and beaches are surrounded by dense pine forests.
