Tučepi

Less than 5 km south of Makarska is Tučepi. The town stretches along four kilometres of a beautiful pebbly beach surrounded by pine trees, with a well-maintained promenade that forms the lifeblood of the settlement. In Tučepi, the high-quality gastronomic and catering offer is complemented by 9 hotels and 4,000 beds in private accommodation, which shows a trend of raising the level of quality.

The municipality takes care of controlled urban expansion and spatial planning, aware of the importance of sustainable development. In addition to the lower settlement by the sea, on the opposite side of the highway, there are hamlets (Gornji Tučepi), which in the last two decades have been undergoing intensive renovation and the return of residents.

The picturesque landscape of Gornji Tučepi in Podbiokovo consists of autochthonous hamlets of stone houses, for which there is a great demand, therefore there are more and more holiday houses in this part.

1,821 inhabitants live in Tučepi. The settlement has four millennia of history, and the name Tučepi translates as "village near the source" (water).
